KUALA LUMPUR: Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi could not get enough of daughter Nori’s first-born when he visited her in hospital for the second time yesterday.

He arrived with his wife, Datin Seri Jeanne Abdullah, at 2.15pm to see his grandson and only daughter at the Pantai Medical Centre.

Asked how Nori was recuperating, a beaming Abdullah replied that “she is doing well”.

On the name chosen for his fifth grandchild, Abdullah said, “It would be best to ask the father.”

The prime minster’s other grandchildren are the children of his son Datuk Kamaluddin Abdullah and daughter-in-law Azreen Abdullah.

Nori and her husband of six years, Umno Youth deputy chief Khairy Jamaluddin, have yet to decide on the name of their baby boy.

Yesterday, Khairy was quoted by Bernama as saying, “We have a very short short-list. It will be decided very soon.”

Nori delivered her son weighing 3.3kg by Caesarean section at 1.25pm on Thursday, the first day of Ramadan.

So far, no pictures of the newborn have been released to the media.

Among those who visited yesterday were Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor, wife of Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak, Women, Family and Community Development Minister Datuk Seri Shahrizat Abdul Jalil, Datuk Siti Nurhaliza and her husband Datuk Khalid Mohamad Jiwa.

Later in Putrajaya, the proud grandfather said the Islamic holy month this year was made sweeter by having Jeanne by his side.

“It is a happy moment for me that I am blessed with another grandchild, and honouring Ramadan this time around with a wife is also meaningful for me,” a jovial Abdullah told the New Straits Times.

Abdullah, who was present with Jeanne at the breaking of fast with Internal Security Ministry and Treasury staff at the Putra Mosque here, later performed the tarawih prayers.
